Tiers For Fears

Before I start with the real message of this piece . . . Who can tell me the top hits by Tears For Fears ? (Answer at the end.)
Here in California we have a cockamamie, confusing, and arbitrary system of color-coded tiers curtesy of our enlightened Governor. These tiers are in place to signify what level of punishment in the forms of restrictions that each individual county is subjected to.If anybody has a hotline to Governor Gavin Newsom, tell him that perhaps he should be reading what follows here as it appears that his so-called “tier system” in California is not the wisest thing, despite what “those in the know” (his “advisors”) say.
Now for the real news: (From Townhall)The World Health Organization (WHO) has changed its position on government lockdowns as a measure for combating the Wuhan coronavirus. The WHO now believes that lockdowns have unintended consequences and should be avoided.
“We in the World Health Organization do not advocate lockdowns as the primary means of control of this virus,” Dr. David Nabarro, the WHO’s Special Envoy on Covid-19 said. Dr. Nabarro then cited some of the harmful negative consequences of prolonged lockdowns that conservatives and President Trump have been warning about for months.
This statement from WHO comes following The Great Barrington Declaration.
For those not aware, The Great Barrington Declaration is a statement by >3500 infectious disease epidemiologists and public health scientists who have grave concerns about the damaging physical and mental health impacts of the prevailing COVID-19 policies, and recommend an approach they call Focused Protection. “Coming from both the left and right, and around the world, we have devoted our careers to protecting people. Current lockdown policies are producing devastating effects on short and long-term public health. The results (to name a few) include lower childhood vaccination rates, worsening cardiovascular disease outcomes, fewer cancer screenings and deteriorating mental health – leading to greater excess mortality in years to come, with the working class and younger members of society carrying the heaviest burden. Keeping students out of school is a grave injustice.“Keeping these measures in place until a vaccine is available will cause irreparable damage, with the underprivileged disproportionately harmed.”
The Great Barrington Declaration also addresses herd immunity:“As immunity builds in the population, the risk of infection to all – including the vulnerable – falls. We know that all populations will eventually reach herd immunity – i.e.  the point at which the rate of new infections is stable – and that this can be assisted by (but is not dependent upon) a vaccine. Our goal should therefore be to minimize mortality and social harm until we reach herd immunity. “The most compassionate approach that balances the risks and benefits of reaching herd immunity, is to allow those who are at minimal risk of death to live their lives normally to build up immunity to the virus through natural infection, while better protecting those who are at highest risk.”
Those who have read by blogs before realize that now the WHO and The Great Barrington Declaration agree with what I have been saying for months. . . . Nuff said!!
